2011 Alfa Romeo MiTo Veloce
Previously, at the Geneva Motor Show 2009 Alfa Romeo has already surprised everybody with its startling high-performance MiTo GTA, but it seems like the MiTo Supermini class soon will be replenished by at least with one more modified brand-new model. In order to close the gap between the base MiTo and the super-charged GTA model, Alfa Romeo is preparing to reveal its new concept Veloce model.
Despite the fact that the MiTo Veloce will not surpass the terrific performance of the GTA, the mid-grade hatchback would definitely provide enhanced comprehensive performance than the standard MiTo. If you'll look at the MiTo Veloce model underhood, you'll find its heart - a modified 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, offering 177 horsepower (132 kW) and 200 lb-ft of torque. That increased power should be quite sufficient to propel the elegant Supermini hatchback from 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 7.5 seconds with a top speed raised to 133 mph (285 km).
To guarantee that the Veloce brakes and handles better than the standard MiTo, Alfa Romeo will set up the ultra-new version of reinforced brakes and upgraded suspension, along with larger 18-inch alloy wheels. Moreover, new aggressively sportier styled body-kit will also be included in the assortment.
Reportedly, possible features would also include a dual-clutch automated manual transmission, Antilock Brake System (ABS), Bose audio and a navigation system. MiTo Veloce safety features will most likely comprise front-side, curtain-side and driver's knee airbags. Additionally, for improved protection front seats would have self-aligning head restraints (SAHR).
The Alfa Romeo MiTo Veloce would be manufactured with usage of a high strength carbon fiber-reinforced plastic in some parts of the car, like the rear hatch, roof and low rear spoiler to reduce weight and to lower the car’s center of gravity, which increases the sustainability on the road and helps to keep hatchback from rolling over.
